This painting is part of my Haunted Portraits series. This series consists of portraits that are black and white, blurred, scratchy, or softened to create spectral imagery. The reference images for these come from Victorian photography.The Reference Image
The reference image I used to for Mary was a photograph of Julia Margaret Cameron's from 1865-1866 of her model Mary Ryan.
